This is what Indian Cricket Team did for their Mothers! It will make you super Proud of our Team!

Members of the Indian cricket team will be seen sporting a different style of jerseys when they take on New Zealand in the final ODI in Visakhapatnam. Instead of the usual customary practice of wearing their last names on the back of the shirt – as is the trend across the world and in multiple sports – the team would wear the names of their mothers as a tribute to an important member of the family which doesn’t get as much attention as the father does. Further the last names are derived from the fathers’ names which puts further focus and attention on the father than the mother.

To change that trend – for one match at least – the Indian team are wearing names of their mothers. Speaking about it at the toss, MS Dhoni said, “We are quite used to having the surnames from the Dad’s side, and what’s important is to appreciate the stuff that Mothers have done for us. It’s a very emotional connect and it’s good that it is put on a public platform. I would like to request the whole of India keeps this in mind every day and appreciate them everyday.”

India are going into the contest in Visakhapatnam with the series on the line after New Zealand had levelled matters in Ranchi at 2-2.

This isn’t the first time a team has experimented with their clothing or promoted a cause with the jersey. South African cricket team has worn pink in the past to promote Breast Cancer awareness and Spanish football club has used their clothing as a promotional tool to promote their social media presence.
