This is DESPICABLE! Jeff Sessions just declared Racist plan to Pay for Trump’s wall! It’s atrocious!

President Donald Trump is hell-bent on building Trump Wall along the Mexican border and he had set up a showdown with Congress for funding for his border wall in order to chalk up a legislative win in his first 100 days in White House. The potential result of the funding bill would be a government shutdown.

The Trump administration is not ready to accept that Mexico would not pay for the wall, which it said a long time ago. However, Jeff Sessions, Attorney General, seemingly has another plan.

He would weigh down U.S. citizen children with the bill instead, simply because he views them as “Mexicans” anyway.

These are following conversation made between ABC Host George Stephanopoulos, Former White House Communications Director, and Jeff Sessions.

“STEPHANOPOULOS: You sound quite confident right there. Do you have any evidence that Mexico is going to pay for it?

SESSIONS: Well, we’re going to get paid for it one way or the other. I know there’s $4 billion a year in excess payments, according to the Department of the Treasury’s own inspector general several years ago that are going to payments to people — tax credits that they shouldn’t get. These are mostly Mexicans. And that kind of things adds up — $4 billion a year for 10 years is $40 billion. There are a lot of ways we can find money to help pay for this. But in the long run —

STEPHANOPOULOS: How are you going to capture that money?

SESSIONS: What’s that?

STEPHANOPOULOS: How are you going to capture that money?

SESSIONS: Well, the Department of Treasury, several years ago, under the Obama administration, said that if you change the regulations and enforced it properly, you would save up to $4 billion a year.”

In the transcript, Sessions is indicating the refundable tax credit that is claimed by undocumented adults, which did, indeed, total over $4 billion in 2011.

However, Rep. John Lewis rightly cited at the time that children born in the United States are U.S. citizens, regardless of their parents’ immigration status:

LEWIS: And today, we have this child tax credit proposal, which would tax our nation’s children. Children, the little ones, the innocent ones. The people who benefit from the child tax credit are American children. The people who claim the tax credit are their working parents. If immigration is your concern, set aside and view of the immigration status of their parents. It is irrelevant! The child tax credit requires a child’s Social Security number. The benefits go to the United States citizen children.

My God! Listen! We’re talking about families, who raise their children on hourly wages, ten dollars or less. We all know how much it costs to raise a child, to feed a child, to clothe a child, to educate a child. This program helps keep young children out of poverty. So today, Mr. Chairman, the question must be raised: Where is our concern? Where is our compassion? Where is our heart? Where is our soul?

Even to the extent that Sessions seems to think that the national origin of these children’s’ parents matters, the fact is that 41 percent of undocumented immigrants hail from countries other than Mexico, and his contention that “these are mostly Mexicans” is without basis, other than his own racist beliefs. The report he cites makes no mention of country of origin.
