Following several days of murmurs that the prime time star of Indian English TV news could be looking at a change, TNM has now learnt that Arnab Goswami informed his news desk that he is resigning from Times Now. The reason few sources said that he was planning to start his own venture and wanted to quit the channel. However the internal sources also said there were few misunderstandings between the Times group owner and Arnab Goswami. BUt the Times now has managed to bring him back to the channel.
According to a source in Times Now, a few editors and reporters were called in specifically for the meeting in which he announced that he was qutting. The meeting was called at 4:30pm and went on till about 5:30pm. “He repeatedly said that ‘The game has just begun’,” said a source in Times Now, “and that ‘independent media is going to thrive’.”
Times Now was not a runaway success initially, but Goswami spun its ratings around with his loud television. According to some colleagues said he wanted to start a new channel along with Rajeev Chandrasekhar and American media heavy weight Rupert Murdoch.
