The Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal had declared its chief ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes for Goa at Cuncolim rally. Elvis Gomes had worked as IG Prisons and Urban Development secretary but took a voluntary retirement to join AAP.
At present, Elvis Gomes is working as the elected President of Goa Football Association. According to a report in Times of India, the former Congress MLA/Goa Tourism minister Nilkant Halarnkar along with Elvis Gomes was charged in connection with a scam between 2007 and 2011 by ACB. The scam involves 30,000 square metres of land in Margao town. The scam was run during Harlankar was the Chairman of Goa Housing Board and Gomes was its Managing Director.
ACB claimed that both allegedly obtained a land, altered its zoning to residential, which would increase the land’s market worth and return it to the owner. However, the Board got hold of the land for building residential units and purportedly got its zoning modified from ‘orchard’ to ‘settlement’.
It is worth noting that the nature of corruption charges levelled against Gomes is similar to the corruption charges of which Robert Vadra is accused of.
The self-proclaimed honest and corrupt free Arvind Kejriwal has declared Elvis Gomes as the Chief Minister candidate who has a corruption charge against him. How revolutionary is it?
Kejriwal, who asks for resignation, even for the false allegations, has employed a corrupt CM candidate for Goa.
